Environmental Indoor Air Quality | ERMI-DNA Mold Testing
At Environmental Inspection Dynamics we can provide the following in Naperville, Aurora, Montgomery, Plainfield, Oswego, Yorkville, Sugar Grove and others: Determining what level mold exists within your home or at your place of work is done with a dust sample through an index called either ERMI (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) or ERMI-DNA MOLD TESTING. It is then analyzed via MSQPCR (Mold Specific Qualitative Polymerase Chain Reaction) by DNA sequencing. This is what we call a "dust historagram." It's a history of the potential molds that may exist within your habitat.
The dust sample is taken from the carpet, which acts as a reservoir for mold spores and is more representative of mold levels over a period of time versus short term air samples, such as air spore trap impact tests. The dust should also be collected from window drapes, office furniture and even the HVAC system. ERMI was developed by the USEPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency).
The USEPA in turn produced a value level from 1 to 4, or a percentile in Low, Medium or High. It is of utmost importance that this testing be executed with a certified mold inspection. Finding the source of the problem is of tantamount importance!
